Our employee spotlight this month shines on Olivia Wolkowicz, our Accounting Manager. We’re excited to share some highlights from a recent conversation with her:
Q: What inspired you to get involved with health IT consulting?
A: I started working with a company that was focused on tollways, then moved into oil & gas before finding a love for startup technology companies. Accounting and finance is going to be the similar across industries but it was important to me to find an organization that was doing something meaningful. The purpose and mission at Healthlink Advisors drew me in and then I connected with the team and really appreciated how they lived the core values as well.
Q: What do you enjoy the most about health IT consulting industry?
A: It’s an excellent field to be in and with Healthlink Advisors being only a few years old, I’ve enjoyed the growth we’ve had. It’s fast-paced and energizing! Our team is our asset and to watch our Consultants perform is so much fun. I’ve become a fan of reading industry news and being aware of the types of business opportunities that our team may encounter. I genuinely love being a supportive team member and will help with anything outside of my traditional role to ensure our team succeeds.
Q: What is something that you would like to achieve?
A: I’m currently sitting for my C.P.A. with two tests behind me and two more to complete over the next few months. I’m spending all of my spare time studying right now but it’s going to enhance my financial and accounting foundation allowing me to become a financial leader in our industry for our team.
Q: Looking back, is there advice that you wish you had been given upon entering the industry?
A: Take the time to learn the industry to ensure that the business aspect is understood so that all finance-based decisions align to company goals and the core focus of the company for the industry you’re serving.
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: My husband and I started Able Pup which is a subscription service that provides monthly and quarterly boxes to blind and seeing impaired dogs. We started this about a year ago because our beloved dog, Twizzler; became blind and we wanted to make other owners and their dogs more comfortable. We include toys that make sound so that these seeing impaired dogs can use their hearing to continue playing, be active and stay healthy. Other regular items like bells for doors (interior and exterior) and essential oils to mark certain areas in your house (e.g.; lavender by their food bowls). The consistent scent helps the dogs avoid feeling disoriented.
Q: Please share a few random fun facts about yourself.
A: My husband and I are involved with ocean clean-up and beach reservation and restoration. We do regular beach walks to pick up garbage along the shoreline. Am a fan of anything near or on the water (like jet skis!). My favorite dish is pizza – I’ll never pass up the opportunity to eat it!
